College life brings an enormous amount of pressure and the ways that students respond can sometimes prove to be deadly. At the beginning of the fall 2009 semester, Benedictine University enforced a new Drug and Alcohol Policy to help decrease the amount of students partaking in campus drinking and decrease the amount of student citations distributed in the small campus of 5,500 students.
Parking has become a concern for many students as enrollment has continued to grow. This year, BU is installing a parking garage to solve this problem. "On May 24, we will begin the early utility pack where we will we work on relocating the underground utilities to get ahead of the curve," said Project Director, Chad Treisch.

04/29/10 9:45 a.m. - University Police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the college entrance across from the Abbey. A non-student was driving southbound on College Road while attempting to turn into University Property. The non-student misjudged their speed and crashed into a Benedictine light pole.
DENTON, Texas, April 29 (UPI) -- A Texas woman said a demolition crew went to the wrong side of the street and punched a hole in her house with a bulldozer. Francis Howard, 69, said she was staying with her son in Frisco, Texas, Wednesday when the bulldozer tore a hole in the front of her house at 724 Ruddell in Denton, the Denton Record-Chronicle reported Thursday.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark, April 29 (UPI) -- Danish air force officials said four soldiers were sent home from the U.N. mission in Lebanon for excessive drinking. Tactical Air Command spokesman Lars Skjoldan said military personnel are allowed two drinks two days per week, but the four soldiers were extremely intoxicated when their commanding officer confronted them, the Copenhagen Post reported Thursday.
NORRKOPING, Sweden, April 29 (UPI) -- A Swedish woman is facing forgery and fraud charges for borrowing $62,000 in her best friend's name and using it to travel to Thailand for breast implants. The indictment against the Norrkoping woman says she tricked her friend into revealing her bank information with a story claiming she needed to deposit money and hide it from enforcement agencies, Swedish news agency TT reported Thursday.
